Smith's 4x4 / Jeep Parts & Accessories

About Us

It all started in 1956 when my dad, Bobby Smith bought his first Jeep, a Military MB. Back then he paid $300.00 for it and it was one of only 3 Jeeps in the Calhoun County area. It just so happened that a hunting buddy of his also owned a Jeep CJ2A. Bobby Smith with his Trophy Deer, Nov. 1960Now that they had  Jeeps, someone needed to be able to work on them when something happened. So dad in his spare time would learn the ins  and outs of doing the mechanical work and as the popularity of Jeeps grew so did the word that my dad could fix them. He began ordering and selling parts for others as well as sharing his knowledge of Jeeps from a small barn, which still stands behind our current location.

While doing this, he was working full-time at the Anniston Army Depot. But in 1974 due to medical reasons he had to retire. This is when Smith’s 4 X 4 Parts opened as a full-time business selling parts and doing repair work.

He turned the business over to me in 1990 but he still continued to work with me up until 2003 when he finally retired from the Jeep and 4 wheel drive business.  He now lives on his farm where he enjoys getting back to nature. I grew up driving a Jeep and working with my dad in the business and have been fortunate to learn as much as I could from him especially concerning older model Jeeps.

We have now been in business for over 33 years and plan to be here for the next 33. We have come a long way from that small barn. In 2002 we moved into our current building which has a large showroom so that we are able to carry more items in stock as well a larger variety of products.

You could always buy your parts and accessories from other sources such as catalogs and the internet but here you can physically touch what you want before you buy and you can also get personal one-on-one service. We also are able to offer information and experience in older model Jeep and 4-WD's which you cannot find in catalogs.

We want to thank all of our long time customers for doing business with us in the past and for those of you who are not yet customers, why don’t you give us a chance to show you what Smith’s 4X4 Parts has to offer.
